A Time to Remember...

This year is almost over. It seems like it just started - and already its ending.

What has God taught you over the course of the year?

What has been your biggest lesson or challenge? Biggest faith hurdle? Coolest God moment?

Think on these things. Reflect on Him and remember His goodness.

What better way to end one year and begin another?

Remember. Write it down. Save it. Savor it. And above all, just remember.

We serve a mighty God. Faithful and just beyond compare. His Ways are far above ours and it is a blessing, a privilege, and a joy to be able to call ourselves His children.

Love Him with your life. You will never be the same again.

If I dont make it back here before the year is done, know that I thank God for whoever reads this and I look forward to knowing you one day.

Have a great Thanksgiving - remember to really be thankful.

Have a great Christmas - remember the real reason for the season.

And have a marvelous New Year Celebration - reflect on where He has led you prior and where He wants to take you now.

Later ya'll.

really and truly, be blessed.

Eternity

There have been so many deaths in the past few weeks. Our news stations have been full of them. Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett, Michael Jackson, Steve McNair and his girlfriend, my great-aunt Eva... so much loss.

It all hits home because when death knocks, mortality is made real. And so is eternity.

Because there has been so much media hype about Michael Jackson, I have really thought a lot about eternity. We call this man a legend, an icon, the greatest.... the 'king' of pop. We have given him so much stature and so much in the way of position, but when it comes down to it he has to face judgement and his eternity just like the rest of us.

My heart has been heavy for this family, my prayers specifically for his kiddos and his sisters and brothers, because for all the pomp and circumstance, what is his legacy? Has he left his children with a legacy of faith that will hold them up and give them a firm foundation when times get hard (like they are right now) or has he left them with no true understanding of their immense need of a Savior and the free gift of salvation that is available for the taking? Has he left them understanding that all that he has, he has because of God's grace and His grace alone, or has he left them believing in their own gifts and talents being enough to allow them to do great things?

When it comes down to it, in the face of passing from time to eternity, no matter what else we do in our lives, only one choice really matters: did we choose salvation?

Everybody can be a great person. Anybody can do good things. But it is all for naught, if we do not choose the Cross.

Eternity isn't the choice. Where we spend it is.

Lord in heaven,
I ask that You pierce the souls of those yet saved and give opportuities to know You for themselves. I pray that they would choose wisely and that they would know the surpassing greatness of loving You.

In Jesus' Name.
Amen.

blessings.

A Quick Hello... and... The Lover Of Our Souls

First: Hello! How are ya? Nice ta see ya!

Now:

The Lover of Our Souls

What an amazing thing to realize, to start to understand, that God is truly in love with us. That He wants to be everything to us. He wants to fill us with an extravagant sort of affection. He showers us in so many many ways with His amazing love for us.

He really truly is the the Lover of our souls. He uses His own Perfection to draw us closer and closer to Him. He asks nothing of us but that we choose Him. That we accept Him. That we embrace Him. He desires only that we love Him back, because He loves us so dearly...

If we would put it all to the side - everything. All the stuff all the desires all the feelings and wishes and dreams. If we would just put it all to the side and give ourselves completely over to simply loving the One who first loved us... What would our lives be? What would we see? How would we ever be the same?

This life is so transient. And really, all that we value so much is just so meaningless without the One who loves us without fail.

Really consider that...

blessings ya'll and have a GREAT Eeaster.

Thank you Lord for the passover Lamb - thank you that His blood was smeared on each human heart and that all we have to do is accept Your Extravagant Love for us. Make us worshippers and lovers of You alone. Let all that we do flow from our extravagant love for You.

In Jesus' Sweet, Life-giving Name.
Amen

Faithfulness

God is faithful.

Remember that.

Even when we are not, He is. Beyond a shadow of a doubt.

And we can trust Him just because He said so.

Blessings ya'll.

Obedience

"Do as I instruct."

But Lord, it doesn't make sense.

"Do as I instruct."

I don't know how this is supposed to work, Lord.

"Do as I instruct."

But Lord...

"Do as I instruct."

Isn't it the weirdest thing for God to tell you to do something that is the opposite of what seems like the best way to handle a situation?

Yeah I know. It's frustrating and sometimes scary. And most often unsettling.

But then u do it and things start to fall into place - because after all, He's God.

And you think, "Wow Lord. I'm glad I did as You instructed."

Obedience is the key. It is better than sacrifice.

Let's work to cultivate that in our hearts and lives this year.

Lord,
We love You and we want to walk in obedience and surrender to You. Help us to just do as You instruct and to trust You for the outcome.

In Jesus' Name, Amen.
